June 04 Just a quick updateWell... I close on my house this Friday (June 9). I'm not sure I really expected it to move this quickly, but it has. And in addition to getting the house under the asking price, the seller is leaving the washer, dryer and refridgerator. So that money I was expecting to have to spend on those may be used to get me a new laser printer and television instead! Or not.  We'll have to see what happens. I'm looking forward to being able to set up my house the way I want it - to finally have a place that is truly mine. Its scary and exciting at the same time. Along those lines - much good luck to Gemini and her significant other, who are also working on becoming homeowners! May 23 And there was great rejoicing! Well, I shook off the disappointment of not getting the other house and went out looking again on Friday. Found one that I like and put an offer in on it Saturday morning. I've been waiting since then to hear back - expecting that the seller would make a counteroffer. Surprise, surprise! My realtor called today to tell me the seller actually accepted my offer! So, barring the inspection and any catastrophes, I should be a homeowner by the end of June! I'm excited and nervous at the same time! May 17 Guess it wasn't meant to beWell, I guess I wasn't supposed to have the house. The seller accepted someone else's offer. I'm sad  It was the right size, laid out so I could have people over, in good shape.... and I could have been in it soon enough to have a housewarming/b-day party there. Friday I go out and start looking again. We'll just have to see how it goes. Maybe I'll find something else that I like enough to make an offer on. May 12 A Long Past Due Update - Exciting News!Okay.... so I haven't posted in awhile. I've been busy! I'm a contributing member of a new blog on creativity and have moved my creative blogging over to one of their subdomains. The creativity blog is Your Cre8tivity and my blog is Shadows Edge. I'll still be posting here - about finances and what's happening in my life. The other blog is just for my creative efforts. In fact, we've just started a new 30 day challenge over there if you want to take a look! Anyway - the exciting thing is that I just put an offer in on a house. This will be my first time buying a house so I'm nervous about whether the offer will be accepted or not! I'll post again when I know more! March 16 Time for a new challengewell,
I took a couple of weeks off posting after the last challenge, but its
time to start up a new one. Gemini and I are trying to convince a
friend of ours, who just moved out here to join us. The biggest question right now is what the challenge is going to be. Here are some of my ideas. Gemini will (I hope) be posting some of hers as well

first 30 day challenge was successfully completed last night.
This evening, I'm posting because I want to, not because of the
challenge. I'm looking forward to the next challenge. I may even add in a non-blogging challenge to myself. There are habits I want to break, and others I'd like to have. 30 days isn't really that long. And it's easy enough to go back to my old way of doing things if I chose to when the challenge is over. What would you challenge yourself to do? February 24 Day 30I've reached the end of this 30 day challenge, and in completing it, I've learned a few things.
February 23 Day 29 - So closeIt's
doesn't seem like its been a month.... not even close on some
days. But tomorrow's entry will be my last one for this
Challenge. I'm not sure when Gemini and I are starting the next
challenge.... we haven't even figured out what its going to be yet!
lol. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be, actually. I really thought that I would have more trouble posting every day. We'll see how hard it'll be when I have a specific subject to post on everyday. February 22 Day 28 - middle of the week bluesThis
is a short week because of Presidents day, but today was still too
long! I hate waiting and it seems like that was what I was doing for
most of the day. And of course, all the direction and information
I was waiting for came in at the end of the day. Ah well! Such is
the way of things. At least tomorrow morning is a Mocha & Java's morning! And Friday is catered lunch at work. So things could definitely be worse! Now if we can just get a few people to get back to us with the information we need..... February 21 Day 27 - almost thereThe
challenge is dwindling down to its final days. Gemini and I have
decided that we're going to do another challenge - one where we both
have to be creative. It might not start for a week or so after
this one ends, because I'll be without reliable internet access for a
few days. I'm looking forward to it. Now if we could just hear from a certain friend in N.C. I think we'd both be much happier. He has a job waiting for him here, but we haven't been able to get in touch with him. Hopefully he'll call soon! Day 26 - 4 More to goIts
hard to believe that by the end of this week, the 30-day challenge will
be over! I have to admit that there have definitely been days
when I had no clue what I was going to write until I actually got
started. But Gemini has the harder challenge.... I can just write
about my day, but she has to turn it into a story piece of some
kind. The next challenge will be more even. We haven't decided exactly what its going to be yet, but it will involve creative writing of some sort. I'm looking forward to it, though I may be asking for a delay in getting it started since I'll be away from a computer and internet access for 4 days next month. February 19 Day 25 - Only a few left to gookay.
so I didn't get anything productive done today.... Grocery shopping and
laundry will get done tomorrow since we have the day off of work.
*grins* Now that's a nice change - paid holidays. We didn't get those
as contractors. And it's not long before our next payday when I can
finally finish paying off all my little debts and start actively
looking for a condo to buy.... My mom's coming out in April, to
help with whatever I need help with in the home buying process at that
point. It works well for her, since my cousin is getting married
on my sister's birthday. Day 24 - almost forgot!Today
was eventful. And cold! Due to a plan complication, I
attended a NERO introductory event alone - Gemini wanted to come with,
be that complication kept that from happening. I had a lot of fun! Even if I was freezing my butt off and felt terribly confused at first. I think its safe to say that NERO is something I want to spend some time doing. For anyone who doesn't know what NERO is - its a live action Role-Playing group. I'll explain more about it later.... but for now, I'm heading for bed! February 17 Day 23 - Returning the favorWell,
its been a long week... and since it started with Gemini doing me the
favor of letting me not post for a day in our challenge, I'm returning
the favor today. The weather doesn't look like its going to cooperate with our plans, but I'm sure we'll figure something out. There's plenty we can do... and even if it is a 3 day weekend, I have a more that I want to do than I have time for. Then again.... that's pretty typical for me! February 16 Day 22 - Things are getting interestingWell....
I have the itch to rp, to write, to let out some of the many characters
and voices that make up a constant, quiet murmurring in the back of my
mind. Well, not so quiet at the moment, and getting louder. The
characters want to see the light, or at least get out of the box
they've been in for so long. If the weather cooperates, one or two may get the chance to come out on Saturday.... others should have their chance within the next couple of weeks. One, spawned in lands of passion but always walking the grey roads, should see some expression before the weekend ends, no matter what the weather. Is it strange that I have all these voices in my head? *shrugs* I don't think so - but then I know them for what they are.... the extremes of my own personality and desires. They are the parts of me that have no place in the day to day world of providing for a roof over my head and food for my table. Nonetheless, they do have a place in my life, in my ability to express myself and remain sane when the world around me seems on its way to the insane asylum. Some of my friends would argue that I'm not sane.... but I'd say the same about them. Things may be moving a bit slower than I'd like, but they're moving in the right direction - and that's what reallly matters in the end. February 15 Day 21 - *sigh*Sometimes
I hate Wednesdays.... its the middle of the week and I'm looking
forward to the weekend, especially since it's a three day
weekend. Tomorrow night I'm going to a Guiness event with a
couple of people from work, and I have plans for the weekend. But
tonight... well, nothing planned, and nothing I really want to spend
much time doing. Even tried playing a game, but just couldn't get
into it. I don't know what it is. Well, I do know its annoying, but beyond that, I don't know!Day 20- Just 10 more to goWell,
we're no longer crossing our fingers. lol. Our friend will be
moving out to our city within the next two weeks. Gemini and I
are definitely looking forward to it. Now all we have to do is
find some time to actually show him around the city! Not the easiest
thing to do when we have a 45minute -1 hour commute each way to work
and are trying to find the time to look at places that are
closer! And in my case, looking for places to buy, not
rent! We'll figure something out, I'm sure.... at the very least,
there are 3 pool halls within 5 miles of our current location. February 13 Day 19 - Just a few more to go ;)Well,
Gemini and I are crossing our fingers. We have a friend who we're
trying to help get a job out here - and Gemini's manager called and
left him a message this evening. Now this friend is currently a
couple of states away, so we're hoping that the call was to tell our
friend that there's a paid internship waiting for him if he can get his
butt out here. lol It looks like things are shaping up a bit in any case, which makes me very pleased over all. The more friends we have around the more social events we'll get involved in and the less mindless tv watching we'll do. *chuckles* not that all tv watching is mindless - certain shows are definitely worth the time you put into watching them. And you just might be surprised at which ones I classify that way - and why! February 12 Day 18 - I Missed OneWell
nothing like being sick and sleeping most of the day to screw with your
plans. *smiles* Thanks, Gemini, for letting me take yesterday off
without forfitting the challenge. I'm feeling much better today, and although I haven't accomplished the things I wanted to this weekend, that's okay. I'll get to them before much longer. In fact, I have high hopes for this week. Its a pay week and my taxes should be ready to be sent in as well. The one good thing about my missing a day of posting is that Gemini and I are on the same day now. So our challenges will end on the same day. February 10 Day 17 - One of those daysEver
have one of those days when most of the day went pretty well but
overall you just felt "blah". That's me today. Don't know
if I'm comng down with something, or if its just the weather. It feels like my energy just kind of trickled away gradually during the day. I even suggested leaving work early, which is something I don't usually do, but I was beat. Unfortunately, because of some things I had to get done, we didn't early afterall. *shrugs* ah well. The weekend is here and I can hopefully get some extra rest! |
